How to Tell the Difference Between a Network Marketer and an Internet Marketer Masquerading as a Network Marketer...and Why It's Important to You

I'm a Network Marketer.

Yes, I still have cassettes in my garage from back in the day.

Yes, I still have a white board in my car.

Yes, when I get bored, I sniff dry erase markers to help me go to sleep!

Yes, I met a guy at Starbucks last Thursday and drew circles on a napkin.

Yes, I work from home. I wear my shorts and t-shirt most days and walk around the phone talking on my cell phone laughing most of the day.

But, that's just me...

Since 2002 I've added the internet to my marketing mix.

In other words, I'm a Network Marketer who uses Internet Marketing in one phase of his business to help me build my organization by easily reaching more people world-wide..

Internet marketers are:

- Savvy
- Write great ad copy
- Seductive
- Tell you what you want to hear
- Promise a SECRET nobody knows but them
- Says warm marketing is dead and you're dumb to do it
- Sells monthly systems where they make all the profits
- Sells big ticket items where they make all the profits
- Not reachable by phone
- Not responsive by email
- Don't like to be questioned, as they are god-like in stature
- Won't ever get in the trenches and get their hands dirty as it's beneath them.
- Don't like to talk to people as it's a waste of their time
- Love to do product launches at least once a year when their bank balance gets low from their last launch
- Have to recreate new material or sell someone else's material to stay afloat
- They say what they do isn't MLM or Network Marketing because they are afraid to say they are in one.

Here's just some facts:
$167 Billion = Network Marketing
$91 Billion = Organic Products
$80 Billion = Movie Industry
$67 Billion = Video Gaming
$16.5 Billion = Music Industry
$9.5 Billion = The NFL

So, which profession do you think you'd like to be in?

I don't know about you, but I'll pick Network Marketing.

And, we have no ad budgets.

It's full of part-time people working from home who have basically have no sales experience!

See why I shake my head when I read what these god-like Internet BUFFOONS say online and people drink up their koolaide and pullout their credit card for another "Miracle $997 Course"?

They may have the mind, the tools, the engine and the pedigree, but they really don't understand how this business model has been working and evolved itself over the last 60 years.

They don't "get" why Amway is still #1 in world wide sales at over $10 billion.

They think Amway people are a joke.

They don't get the self-development necessary to create and maintain a sales organization.

How it's about the people and not the products, services or even the pay plan.

Amway pays out around 35% (my best guess, so don't quote me), yet they are #1.

They don't allow blogs.
They don't allow optin pages.
They don't allow YouTube videos
They don't allow Facebook pages.
They don't allow twitter.
They don't allow autoresponders.
They don't do google hangouts.
They don't do webinars.

Amway seems to have come to gun fight with a knife, and somehow, turned into "Caine" from the movie Kung Fu and kicked the butt of 20 guys in slow motion in less than 10 seconds!

If Herbalife, who is #2 at $4.7 billion DOUBLED their sales with some sort of miracle promotion, they'd still be #2.

They think Amway is the wrong way to do it.

That's where they are wrong.

Amway is the right way to build a Network Marketing business.

But, Amway is the wrong way to build an Internet business.

Too harsh?

Or, right on the button?

You decide, I already have experienced enough of them to know.

Network Marketers are:
- Willing to talk to their family and friends.
- Pick up the phone and answer questions
- Hard workers
- Smart enough to know that a "click" is like winking at your spouse in the dark

And, I'm going to stop there...because they are basically opposite of Internet Marketers.

Now, contrary to popular belief, Internet Marketers are not bad people.

They just don't want to be a Network Marketer.

Talking to people isn't their idea of having fun.

Automation and Innovation is their game, their gig.

It's the marrying of the two is where their challenge occurs.

Very few, and I'll repeat, very few have been able to build a long term, residual income online.

Nerium is a good example of what a Network Marketing company is all about.

Isagenix is a good example as well.

So is Total Life Changes and Youngevity.

All of these companies don't focus on the internet.

And, if you ever actually talk to an Internet Marketing and mention them and ask them how they were able to do it they just laugh.

Because, they don't have a clue.

Most won't even be aware of them, or how they have been able to produce the amount of sales they have without a cool landing page and having to talk to real people.

If you show them the DSA Top 100 List that is full of warm marketing companies and there is not one single internet only company on that list they will hang up the phone on you or go "crickets on you" in a text.

One of the most revealing moments in my career was on a Pre-Paid Legal airplane flying to watch my buddy Steven Bratcher, do a hotel meeting in Kansas City.

The guy in charge of marketing leaned over to me and whispered:

"Our internet business is the worst business we have. People only stay in for about 60-90 days. Can you help us with that?"

A $50 million dollar a MONTH company said that.

So, the problem is real.

It's the elephant in the room.

Prospects look at the internet as the "NIRVANA of Building a Downline"

It's not.

It's a Masquerade.

Yes, riches can be made with online ONLY marketing.

But, your downline won't be able to duplicate their internet only upline.

That's why these guys and gals have to move every 24 months or so:

1) They've milked their list to death
2) Their downline has no list to milk, so they fail
3) The internet marketer doesn't teach true Network Marketing principles because, quite frankly, they just don't want to, or they don't know them!

I'll say it for the 1,000th time since 2002:

"If just setting up a landing page, creating a "cool" google hangout video, or walking on the beach video, showing cleevage, licking your lips a dozen times while touching your hair, pulling up in a $100,000 car and smiling and waving, write cash pulling autoresponder letters and a shopping cart was all that was necessary to build a downline, then the companies would do that themselves and fire or terminate all the distributors!"

Why would they need you and I?

You see, they need you and I because they know we will work our assess off until the wee hours of the night with a potential customer or distributor.

They need you and I because we work on commission.

They need you and I because we have a dream bigger than the clicks, hits and alexa ratings.

See the difference?

Nothing wrong with either way of making money.

Nothing wrong with merging the two.

Just don't fall for the trap, that they've solved the age old problem of actually helping others and you actually having to grow as an individual.

That will never change!
